The vision behind IslamikaNet is closely aligned with the evolving concept of University 5.0 as articulated for instance by Carayannis and Morawska (2023), which calls for transdisciplinary, innovation-driven, and socially embedded knowledge ecosystems. Drawing from the Mode 3 university model, IslamikaNet operates as a hybrid collaboration between scholars and developers, facilitating the co-evolution of knowledge production and digital infrastructure across academic disciplines and global networks. By enabling researchers across various disciplines in the study of Islam and Muslims to access, share, and innovate through interconnected data, content, and communities, IslamikaNet aspires to function as a “knowledge democracy node” within a broader knowledge society. We hope to help shape an inclusive and ethically grounded Islamic Studies Generation 5.0, for today and tomorrow.
